The Chief Medical Office (CMO), Srinagar today organised an awareness program on sensitisation of PRI’s regarding communicable diseases at Auditorium of Rural Development Department, Lal Mandi. The programme was inaugurated by Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather and was attended by all PRI members.
The awareness regarding communicable diseases was imparted by Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jameel Mir, Tasaduq and Syed Shazia. The PRI’s were given a brief Power Point Presentation regarding communicable diseases, their prevention and control measures, emphasis was given to their involvement in identifying early warning signs of outbreaks of diseases and communicating to local health authorities for timely intervention.
Besides, they were sensitized about their role to check health and hygiene of essential item sellers including milk, mutton, bakery and vegetable sellers. They were also sensitized regarding the means through which communicable diseases spread among people and the behavior to be adopted to stop communicable diseases.The speakers underlined the role of PRIs in ensuring the delivering of health services by health centres in their respective areas. Among others, the program was also attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat and District Panchayat Officer.
