Parkash Singh Badal, the former Chief Minister of Punjab and Padma Vibhushan awardee, visited Central University of Punjab, Village Ghudda, District Bathinda on Thursday to interact with faculty members.On this occasion, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice Chancellor and CUPB Officials welcomed Sardar Parkash Singh Badal and briefed him about the growth journey of the university that commenced in the year 2009 and is now ranked at 84th position in University Category in NIRF India Rankings 2021. On arriving at the CUPB campus Sardar Parkash S. Badal expressed satisfaction with the development works of the campus, the foundation stone of which was laid in the year 2015 when he was Chief Minister of the state.During his visit, Sardar Parkash S. Badal interacted with the faculty members especially from the Department of Applied Agriculture and encouraged them to put efforts for value addition of local fruits and surplus crops of the state through their effective utilization in processed food products to increase the farmer’s income.  He also shared his farming innovation of utilizing Jamun, Papaya & Guava for developing innovative food processing goods such as Barfi, Jam, and other products.

While interacting with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Tiwari, the Former Chief Minister Sardar Parkash S. Badal stated that CUPB can play a vital role in the welfare of the society by inspiring people of Punjab to pursue higher education from the premier institution of the state and by finding innovative research-based solutions to the social issues of the state. He suggested CUPB officials to develop a platform to associate school and higher educational institutions of the region and guide them to transform the education system as per international standards. Mr. Badal inspired CUPB faculty to conduct activities for community engagement and development of nearby villages.Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari expressed gratitude towards Sardar Parkash S. Badal and asserted that the university is committed to implement transformational educational reforms introduced under NEP-2020 in totality to leverage its benefits to all the stakeholders. The Vice Chancellor assured that the university will put all efforts to provide wider educational opportunities to the people of Punjab and other states of the country and develop global intellectual citizens who will contribute to the making of AatmaNirbhar Bharat.
