With a view to ensure the safety of the females in Sangrur district, Punjab Education and PWD Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla today inaugurated the first all women police station in the district as a gift of Rakhi.  Speaking on the occasion Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that this Mahila police station has been set up to deal empathically with any case of violence or crime against women. He said that in this police station, from SHO to constable, all staff of Mahila Punjab Police have been deployed.The Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla said that the purpose of deploying only female police officers and staff in the police station was to facilitate the women and girls who have been victims of domestic or any other form of violence to lodge complaints of these crimes.  He said that sometimes it happens that due to the presence of a male police officer, many women hesitate to report a case of violence or any other crime against them.

He said that this Mahila police station has been set up to encourage the women or girls who have been victims of any crime, to lodge their complaint without any hesitation. He said that the crimes against women in this police station would be dealt with on the basis of empathy and the details of the female complainants in sensitive cases would be kept confidential in all aspects.Mr. Singla said that with the development of such police stations, it would also be possible to take action against the culprits who could have escaped due to non-complaints. He said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh was making regular efforts for the welfare of all sections of the society and for the overall development of the state.On this occasion among others Deputy Commissioner Ramvir, SSP Vivek Sheel Soni,  Director TMC Mumbai Dr. RA Badwe, SP Alam Vijay Singh, Balbir Kaur Saini and all the staff of Mahila Police Station including SHO Ramandeep Kaur were also present.
