The continuous close vigil in vehicle theft prone areas by Kapurthala police led to busting of a gang involved in stealing the bikes and recovered 14 stolen bikes hidden in the forest area of Jhall lai wala in Sultanpur lodhi besides arrest of two accused.The arrested accused have been identified as Labha(26) son of Avtar Singh resident of village Lattianwal and Sarabjit Singh (24) alias Sabbo alias Bhangi son Jaspal Singh resident of village Lattianwal.Disclosing further details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that SHOs have been directed to keep a close watch on the activities of anti-social elements in areas prone to vehicle thefts so that street/ petty crime is eliminated from the city.The SSP said that some complaints of vehicle theft were received from Gurdwara Ber Sahib and other establishments in Sultanpur Lodhi subdivision, so under the supervision of DSP Sarwan Singh Bal and SHO Sultanpur Lodhi, various teams of police conducted round the clock surveillance.

During patrolling the police team received a tip off regarding the presence of accused Labha and Sabbo who were habitual criminals and were waiting for customers to sell motorcycles and their parts.Police team immediately raided the spot and arrested the both of them from the spot and recovered two stolen bikes form their possession when they tried to escape after seeing the police party.The SSP said that during preliminary interrogation of the arrested accused, they revealed that both are addicted to drugs and are facing NDPS Act cases registered in different police stations.SSP added that the accused also disclosed that they had stolen several bikes from the area and had hidden these bikes in the forest area of Jhai Lai wala. They also revealed that they dismantled the parts of some motorcycles and sold them to their customers in order to arrange money for purchasing drugs.SSP said that police parties immediately moved to search the forest area and recovered 12 more motorcycle from there.SSP said that both of the accused have been booked under Section 379,482,201 of IPC  by Sultanpur Lodhi Police Station.The SSP said that the police team will produce them before the magistrate and would seek their police remand for further investigation of other thefts of two-wheelers.
