Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced the party would intensify its agitation further, including ‘gherao’ of the SSP, Mohali’s office in case prompt action was not taken against those who exploited a young girl leading to her suicide. The SAD President interacted with the victim family here along with Dera Bassi legislator N K Sharma and expressed shock and grief at the tragic incident. He also assured them that the SAD would do its utmost to ensure justice to the family. He said besides intensifying the public movement to build pressure on the district police to take action in the case, the SAD would also provide legal aid to the affected family. “We will even file a write in the Punjab and Haryana high court if needed”, Mr Sukhbir Badal said here.Mr Sukhbir Badal also spoke to the SSP, Mohali and asked him to take prompt action in the case. He said the delay in nabbing the accused had sent out a message that they were being provided political shelter. “This is unacceptable. We cannot compromise on the dignity of our women”, he told the SSP.Mr Badal said such a state of affairs was happening in the State because chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had sublet governance to bureaucrats who were oblivious to the suffering of the people. He said it was astonishing that the pain and suffering of the victim family had not reached the office of the chief minister which was ten kilometer away till now.Mr N K Sharma while speaking on the occasion said the victim – Kuldeep Kaur was posted as a clerk in the Technical Education and Training Department. He said even though a case had been registered against two employees of the department, no arrest has been made so far. He said the SAD was already actively agitating for justice for the aggrieved family and would intensify this further in case the guilty were not arrested and brought to book. EOM
