The 'Udaan ' project of the Social Security, Women and Child Development Department of the state was inaugurated today by Deputy commissioner kapurthala Deepti uppal. Under this project free sanitary napkins would be distributed to the women and girls of needy families.While distributing the sanitory napkins to the needy girls , Deputy Commissioner said that this project has been started to empower the women and give them a chance to live with dignity. under this project 9-9 sanitary napkins would be distributed to 50 women per month in each Anganwadi Center.This will make women physically and mentally stronger as they will have the opportunity to live their daily life with confidence and pride even during menstruation, she added.She said that the Social Security and Women Welfare Department in the district has been directed to ensure that sanitary pads be provided to every needy women.Apart from this to cover the school girls , Deputy commissioner has asked the social security department to coordinate with school education department for distribution of sanitary napkins.District Program Officer Mrs. Sneh Lata said that distribution of Sanitary Napkins has been started in 911 Anganwadi Centers of District Kapurthala.
