In a move to push the vaccination drive in the rural belt of the district by involving the panchayat heads and members, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Saturday inaugurated a Covid inoculation camp in the Raikot sub-division.Terming the important role of the sarpanchs and panchs in dispelling misinformation and myths surrounding the vaccine, Deputy Commissioner asked them to come forward and discharge their responsibility towards the nation in this war against the virus by taking the jab and motivating others to opt for it wholeheartedly.Accompanied by Dr Bishav Mohan from DMCH Ludhiana, SDM Dr Himanshu Gupta, BDPO Rupinderjeet Kaur, Deputy Commissioner told them that they have a big responsibility on their shoulders to ensure every eligible resident of their villages gets the shot immediately. He said that vaccination is the only way to fight the pandemic which is on a steep rise in the district.Deputy Commissioner asked them to publicize about vaccination camp through public address systems in the villages so that their brethren not fall prey to any myths about the Covid vaccine and embrace the vaccine.He said that we can break the transmission chain of the virus by administrating vaccine to maximum people and can save precious lives.Dr Bishav Mohan also detailed the gathering about the virus and the importance of the vaccine to contain the surge.On the occasion, Block Samiti Chairman Kirpal Singh Nathowal, Chairman Sukhpal Singh Gondwal, Naib Tehsildar Gurpyar Singh, SMO Dr Harpreet Singh, DDPO Sandeep Sharma and others were present.
