The Important road of South Kashmir’s Shopian Bijbehara road is broken and the inbsitsnts demand speedh Construction to ease out the peoples miseries.Only 12 km road  has been lingering on for the past over four years and stretch has been completed so far.Officials in the R&B revealed that  the first leg of the Rs 49 crore project was taken up in 2016 under the Central Road Fund (CRF) and the work went on sporadically for more a year due to certain legal disputes.This road is being developed for the past four years at an estimated budget of Rs 48 crore, of which only Rs 15 crore has been released so far, and that too has been spent on installation of pipes, bridges and widening officials said, They added, the work was started in double shift and around 12 km were completed,“Since then the work has been paused due to the paucity of funds.” Many of the daily commuters who have their own cars take alternate roads to reach Shopian or any other destination after travelling 10-20 kilometers more.

Students, office goers and patients are the worse victims of this deplorable road. The road connects at least 90 villages including the apple-rich villages of Imamasahib, Chitaragam, Nagbal, Hilow and Zainpora with Bijbehara.“Presently the road is filled with potholes, causing hardships to the commuters,” said Nadeem Ahmad, a resident of Chitragam. Many of the daily commuters who have their own cars take alternate roads to reach Shopian or any other destination after travelling 10-20 kilometers more. Locals said that the snowfall had battered the road further, forcing the motorists to take a detour to reach Bijbehara. People urged LG administration to speed up this important road and release its fund which will boost and ease out the miseries of the common people of these area's R&B department had already sent the proposal to the government under the languishing projects and the work would be started once the funds were released Official said
