‘Casual Daily-wagers Forum’ stages protest, Demand regularization of services

Casual laborers and daily wagers working with different department staged protest here in Srinagar demanding regularization of their services.The workers assembled under the banner of ‘Casual Daily-wagers Forum’ to press for their demand including release of their wages pending for months.Led by chairman of the Association Sajad Ahmad Parray, the protesting workers said the government had assured them of “fulfilling” their demands. “They (the government) have again failed to keep its promise,” said the protesting employees.The pending wages, regularization of services are the two main demands raised by the Association, said Parray.“It has becomes difficult for us to meet daily expenses,” said a daily wager. “Our families are suffering,” he said.Parray said that their demands are genuine which have already been accepted by the Government. “We are not demanding something beyond the reach of the Government,” he said and warned of consequences in case their demands are not met.“We will hit to roads to press for our genuine demands,” Parray told news agency KNT.Meanwhile, ‘Casual Daily-wagers Forum’ staged protest at other district headquarters demanding regularization.The laborers said they have working sincerely for the department for past many years, but “unfortunately they are not being regularized as promised by the successive governments.” (KNT)
