Pulwama , 09 Mar 2020

The students of Government Medical College (GMC) Pulwama on Monday took to streets against the non-availability of most of the teaching staff in the college since August 5 last year when the State was bifurcated into two union territories and its special status revoked. The protesting students blocked Pulwama to Awantipora road near CMO office and raised slogans against the education department and district administration. The students said that due to shortage of teachers, they are facing many problems in the concerned subjects. They appealed to Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to look into the “serious” matter. When raised the issue, the CMO Pulwama Dr Haseena told GNS that the previous teaching staff was transferred.“The matter has been resolved as I arranged the new teaching staff,” she said, adding, “The class work will continue as normal.” (GNS)
