Members of Parliament-Shamsher Singh Manhas & Jugal Kishore Sharma today called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu here at the Raj Bhavan.The MPs along with Sh. Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister and Sh. Abhinav Sharma, President J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu apprised the Lt Governor about various issues of public importance including desilting and cleaning of rivers and canals in Jammu; implementation of the feedback given by the people during Back to Village programme ; creation of parking lots in different areas of Jammu to address the issue of traffic congestion; revenue related issues ; clearance of liabilities under MGNREGA; redressal of public grievances and issues by the District Administration; tackling Mining nexus, issues of aspirants of Probationary Officers & Banking Associates of J&K Bank etc.They also sought the Lt Governor’s intervention for the completion of prestigious projects like Jammu Ropeway, Tawi River Front Development, Jambu Zoo and other such projects.
The members of the delegation appreciated the J&K Administration for extension of VAT Amnesty Scheme and Amnesty Scheme for Power consumers and briefed the Lt Governor that the expectations of the local population are very high with the Government to fulfill their developmental aspirations.They also drew Lt Governor’s attention towards the losses suffered to local industrial sector and raised the demands related to announcement of industrial package and new land policy, relief to the borrowers of Banks to help local businesses & extension of payment period for those businesses which have entered into one time settlement with Banks and other such borrowers who have shown their intention to clear the loan amounts in the interest of whole business community.While interacting with the members of the delegation, the Lt Governor observed that the Government is making dedicated efforts to address various public issues to meet the public expectations and comprehensive measures are being taken to ensure holistic development of J&K. He assured them to review all the genuine issues and demands projected by them for their early redressal and urged them to continue their sustained endeavours for promoting the public welfare.
