80% seats in city sports academy for city players

The sports infrastructure in the city will be ready for international level. Sportspersons of the city will get reservations in sports academies run by the administration. 80 percent seats in hockey football and cricket academy will be reserved for city players. Not only this, the players of the city will get cash awards equal to Punjab and Haryana if they win medals at national and international levels. The decisions were taken at the Sports Advisory Committee meeting held at UT Guest House on Friday.The meeting of the Sports Advisory Committee was chaired by Sanjay Tandon. It was decided in the meeting that a state level tournament of all sports will be organized by the Sports Department to encourage sports and sportspersons in the city. Along with this, it was decided to visit these complex from time to time by the members of the Advisory Committee to solve the problems faced by the players and facilities in the open sports complex in the city. Sports Advisory Committee Chairman Sanjay Tandon said that the help of international level players associated with the city will also be taken to promote sports in the city. Committee member Varidar Singh Rawat also asked for the help of international level players to develop sports infrastructure in the city. In the meeting of the committee, cash awards will also be given to the winners of national and international tournaments of the city before the month of March. Sports director Tej Deep Singh Saini gave information about the projects of sports in the city in the meeting.He briefed about Infrastructure of Sports department, Sports Hostels in Sec-18 & Sec-42, Human Resource mentioning the total no. of Coaches, Managers, Supervisors in the department, Gradation Policy, Scholarship Policy, Cash Awards, Snookers/Billiards hall in Sec-42  in the meeting. He said that world class shooting range would be prepared on 23 acres of land in Sarangpur. In addition, an international level skating rink will be built in Sector 23. Synthetic track of athletics will be laid in the sports complex of Sector 7. Committee member Sandeep Singh Sandhu asked to increase the activity of water sports in Sukhna Lake. Saubhagya Vardhan of the committee also talked about promoting sports in the city. The first sports policy of the city will also be released soon. In this policy, there will be a reference to the cash award given to the players and the facilities they get. The city has no sports policy yet.
