The stage was all set for a peace March and Sharamdan to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation on Wednesday morning.Divulging the details, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Mr Jasbir Singh said that peace March would be a humble and befitting tribute to the father of the nation, who united the nation through the gospel of non-violence to oust the British imperialismHe said that Mahatma Gandhi Ji was possibly the only global leader who won the battle of freedom through his ideology of non-violence.He said that the peace March would start from Shivani Park, Model Town and will culminate outside MC building at Company Bagh after crossing Masand Chowk to Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, Skylark Chowk to Namdev Chowk to MC Building.Additional Deputy Commissioner also said that even Sharamdan would be done for discouraging the use of single-use plastic amongst the people. He said that such functions would be held across the district to make drive against single-use plastic a mass campaign.He told that every one of us especially the youth must come forward to perpetuating the life and philosophy of the father of the nation by imbibing the ethos of non-violence, harmony and cleanliness in their lives.On the occasion, ACP Traffic Mr Harwinder Singh, Assistant Nodal Officer SVEEP Mr Surjeet Lal and others were present.
