Heritage walks play important role in connecting the youth with the rich culture and heritage of the region. Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amrinder Singh Mr Suresh Kumar said this here today.Suresh Kumar led the fourth edition of Heritage walk organised by renowned NGO Patiala Foundation under its I Heritage project where in it has joined hands with Go UNESCO with the aim of promoting culture and heritage amongst locals. Under the #MyheritagePatiala campaign the team visited 1250 years old Roza Shehzaday-E-Imam Mashhad Ali Bin Hazrat Ali Moosa Raza A.S (Panj Peer) and other important heritage places of Samana. Addressing a huge gathering Suresh Kumar said that as an individual we are not even aware of the heritage places of our respective areas leave alone the places of Punjab. Such Heritage walks played important role in connecting the youngsters with their rich culture and heritage. He added that today's walked had connected the people of Samana with the rich heritage which will also be beneficial for them in long run.He added that the month of November was being celebrated by Punjab government as the months dedicated to 550 year birthday celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Having already held 4 Heritage walks the Patiala foundation’s fifth Heritage walk should be at Sultanpur Lodhi the land of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji where Gurdwara Sahib Sri Bed Sahib and many other places are dedicated to the Lord. This would help more and more people know about the rich heritage of Sultanpur Lodhi.He added that Punjab was a proud owner of various places of cultural inheritance importance such as Patiala and all efforts were being done by Government of Punjab under the table guidance of CM Capt. Amrinder Singh to place it on the international tourism map. He directed deputy commissioner Kumar Amit and Waqf Board CEO Showkat Ahmad Parray to ensure development of Heritage Sites in and around Samana.

Earlier Suresh Kumar participated in the 1.5 km Heritage walk that started from Nagar Council Samana and passed from the areas of Shahid Chowk, Cinema Chowk, Imambara, Purani Haveli and other places. He reached at Roza Shehzaday-E-Imam Mashhad Ali Bin Hazrat Ali Moosa Raza A.S (Panj Peer) and offered the chaadar praying for peace and integrity of Punjab. Dargah Maulvi Maulana Muzaffar Zaidi told the congregation about importance of this Dargah the second most important muslim religious place in Asia, Bibi Samana Khatoon, 560 years old Akbari Darwaza and Mashhade Hind Dargah.Patiala foundation's Chief Functionary-General Secretary Ravi Ahluwalia told about the importance of of Samana city and Panj Peer adding that important from the view of old trade rout before the Sher Shah Suri GT Road came into existence. He also spoke at length about naming of the city its relation to Qutubuddin Aibak, Taimur, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, in the year 1709 about Sikh Faujdar Bhai Fateh Singh's appointment in the year 1742 Baba Ala Singh took over it and then in year 1761 Ahmed Shah Durrani brought the city under its control. He called upon research to be conducted in discovering the new aspects of the city Samana.Held in Association with Concor the My Heritage Patiala heritage walk's chief guest was Shri Suresh Kumar with his wife Anita Nangia, Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Dr B S Ghuman, Information and Public Relations department and Food and Civil supplies department Director Mrs Anindita Mitra, Deputy Commissioner Patiala Mr Kumar Amit, SSP Patiala Mr Mandeep Singh Sidhu and his wife Dr Sukhveen Kaur Sidhu, DIG homeguards Harmanjit Singh, Waqf Board CEO and ADC G Showkat Ahmed Parray, SDM Samana Naman Markan, a large number of people from Patiala, Chandigarh Kalka, Samana, students and people from other places.VC  Punjbai University Dr BS Ghuman appreciated the efforts of Patiala foundation in creating awareness. Dr Nidhi Sharma Ahluwalia gave information about various activities of Patiala Foundation and said that today was the fourth Heritage walk organised by the foundation. People from Lions Club Samana Gold, Patiala Police Probationary Sub Inspectors, Youth Services Department, Punjabi University Patiala, Modi College, state College of Education, ITI Patiala and students from various schools colleges tooparticipated in this event. Patiala Foundation also honour Mr Suresh Kumar on this occasion along with other dignitaries who are a part of the Heritage walk.
