FIR Against Suppliers Found With Eight Quintals Spurious Pesticides In Jalandhar

Acting sternly against the suppliers of spurious pesticides and insecticides being supplied to the farmers under the Tandarust Punjab Mission, the Agriculture department has got a FIR lodged against a supplier of such medicine after its samples had failed in Pesticides Testing Laboratory at Chandigarh.Divulging the details, the Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Naazar Singh said that the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department had busted a gang involved in supplying spurious pesticides to farmers by seizing eight quintals of spurious Imdeclopreed 0.3 GR medicine on a tip off. He said that the pesticide was being sold to the farmers on the name of Indian Crop Science Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Naazar Singh said that the farmers were being duped on the name of cheap medicine which was in reality a spurious one.The Chief Agriculture Officer said that the company was not recognized by the Agriculture Directorate, Punjab for its operations in the state. He further said that after seizing the pesticides it was sent to the Pesticides Testing Laboratory at Chandigarh where its samples had failed. Subsequently, Dr. Naazar Singh said that the Police department was requested to register FIR after which a case under section 420, 274, 120-B of IPC and 7 EC was registered against suppliers.Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to safeguard the interests of the farmers, the Chief Agriculture Officer said that the department was maing all out efforts to ensure the sale of spurious pesticides in the district under Tandarust Punjab Mission. He said that the officers of the department have already been directed to plug sale and storage of spurious pesticides to ensure that farmers were facilitated at every cost. Dr Naazar Singh said that this campaign would continue in the coming days to keep a check on sale of spurious pesticides.
