The residents of Shukoor Mohallah, Tekipora Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have shown serious resentment over the failure of governance as all the promises made by the former legislator Abdul Haq Khan regarding resolving the issues of people never saw the light of the day.According to residents, Khan who also served as minister for almost three years, had promised and assured the locals after voting him to power will facilitate the locals, provide them all the basic amenities including proper electrification, water supply, drainage, macadamized roads but all his promises turned false. The residents while talking to KNO, said that, “we belong to one of the remote areas of this border district living along the border lines we’re deprived of all the basic facilities which have became hurdle in our daily life making it tough for us to survive with the least things available.” They said that at the times when government is claiming to have attained the modern heights “our village is still awaiting to have proper electrification in our area.”

“We have  services lines attached over roof tops, green trees, other unfit sources and  Shabby wooden poles almost three decades ago the wooden poles were installed  which have grown shabby,” said residents. “Very few people having good ties with our local leader Haq Khan were provided with all the facilities a village needs, services lines posing life threats to all the residents be it children's or men, women and elderly.

Transformer installed in the area have time to time caused and added a lot our sufferings that it would any time prove to be fatal for any of us living here.”“We don't have  proper drainage system here with foul smell emancipating across the village, they said that not a single common drain for the villagers was concreted under any of the governments development work, many incidents have surfaced In the past when children and elderly passing by drowned into it since it's  boundaries aren't concreted so far,” he said. The lone road leading to our hamlet still looks like that of decades old which hasn't been black topped nor repaired ever since it suffered loss, became bumpy and tough for patients and especially pregnant ladies. “Our hamlet lacks basic amenities, we still call ourselves the residents of backward area which still hasn't a single developed at any front,” he said. “Our area is out of the sight from Government of India as well governor administration we haven't seen any development work done here over the years, Even the heath centre we have here is of no use, medical staff there hasn't carried out a single medical test so far forcing all the poor class to visit private clinics or drive to Kupwara or Srinagar.Residents of Lolab told that, few years ago the road widening work was commenced but to date the blacktop, widening, equal surfacing of the road is still pending which is becoming very tough for the students as well commuters to reach their destination on time. The residents have appealed the higher ups to look into the suffering and problems faced by the people especially by the Young generation over the years due to sheer negligence of successive governments and District administration. The residents also sought complete reshuffle in all the departments looking after the said area within short period of time as the locals alleged them of embezzling state money. (KNO)
