Students of NIPER SAS Nagar brought laurels at SSX-India Meeting

The students of NIPER, Mohali brought laurels to the institute again during the 3rd Annual SSX (Study of Xenobiotics - SSX) India Meeting which was held at Bangalore in October 2018. The students of NIPER, Mr Mayur Ladumor, Mr Ankit Balhara, Ms Pammi Praneetha, Ms Aarzoo Thakur, Mr Aravind Rachapally and Ms Sheena Sharma took active participation in various events, made presentations of their research work, and received commendations. These students of the Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis are carrying out their Masters/PhD under the mentorship of Prof. Saranjit Singh. Ms Aarzoo was awarded cash prize for getting second place in the Best Poster competition. She presented her work on Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model development in healthy and diseased population. Of total 62 students, Ms Pammi was one among 4 students who were selected for oral presentation. 

She presented results of her research work on the detection of reactive metabolites of piperine. Ms Sheena was selected as the student representative, along with leading national and International scientists, for panel discussion on ‘Research Careers’. She put forward her views on the role of graduate level learning in preparing students for research in future. Before the panel discussion, Dr Saranjt Singh delivered invited talk on ‘Pursuit for Inspired Career in pharmaceutical Sciences’.The Indian Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (SSX) is an affiliate society of International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX). Working in close conjunction with the goals of ISSX, the Indian SSX progresses the field of drug pharmacokinetics and toxicity. It also acts as an open platform where senior scientists in the field of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) interact and share their knowledge with the beginners in the field.
