A meeting of the Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-IV) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held here today under the Chairmanship of MLC, Ramesh Arora to review the functioning of Power Development Department.Legislators, Ali Mohammad Dar, Rani Gargi Blowria, Saif-ud-Din Bhat and Vibod Gupta attended the meeting.Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta and Managing Director, PDC, Shah Faisal briefed the meeting about status of several issues related to their respective wings including regularization of PDC employees.The Committee also discussed in detail other issues like electrification of all un-electrified villages in the State. In this regard, the Committee asked for submission of accurate figures of total un-electrified areas in the state within next ten days.The Committee expressed serious concern over poor performance of IRCON especially in Kalakot village Gulabgarh, Barwari, Mogla block and Rajouri district.The meeting was attended by Managing Director JK PDC, Shah Faisal, Development Commissioner PDD, Er. Asgar Ali Majaz, Chief engineer (CID) Jammu, R. S. Bhadwal, Secretary Technical, PDD, Chief Engineer M&RE, Kashmir, Chief Engineer, M&RE, Jammu, Chief Engineer Project Kashmir, Chief engineer, Project, Jammu, Chief engineer P&D, Chief Engineer, C&S, Chief Engineer, Additional Secretary PDD, Director finance PDD, Director Planning PDD, Special Secretary Legislative council, Abdul Majid Wani, senior officers of Council Secretariat besides concerned officers of PDD department.Later, Chairman DRSC-IV Ramesh Arora chaired another meeting of PHE and Flood Control Department to review its functioning.Legislators, Ali Mohammad Dar, Sham Lal Bhagat, Saif-ud-Din Bhat and Vibod Gupta attended the meeting.Threadbare discussion was held regarding the price escalation observed in execution of the Chenab Water Supply Scheme, aimed at providing drinking water to Jammu city and adjoining areas.The Chairman stressed upon PHE Department to take all necessary measures to ensure availability of pure drinking water to all citizens, besides improving existing purification systems. Further, directions were passed to Secretary PHE to regularly monitor progress on Artificial Lake project so as to ensure its completion by March 2018. It was also informed that Committee will visit the site to take cognizance of the works being undertaken.The committee also directed for undertaking systematic works for clearing flood channels and asked for monitoring and limiting depth of dredging works.The Committee further directed for taking strict measures to prevent contamination of water by human and animals.The meeting was attended by Secretary, PHE, Irrigation & flood control, M.Raju, Chief Engineer, Irrigation & flood control, P.N. Bali and senior officers of the Department and Council Secretariat.
