Virbhadra Singh directs cement companies to roll back enhanced rates

The cement prices enhanced by the cement companies by rupees five yesterday have been slashed down as a result of meeting called by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh with the representatives of ACC and Ambuja cement companies, here today.The Chief Minister issued directions to curtail the prices immediately to give relief to the people. After meeting, the companies agreed to roll back the enhanced rates by immediate effect.It is worth mentioning that the cement companies had enhanced the rates by rupees five per bag and the rates differed between Rs 360 and Rs 365. The representatives of Ultratech Cement Ltd, which took over Jaypee Cement, recently were also directed not to enhance the rates and avoid putting extra burden on the people. This will also affect the ongoing works of development under MNREGA or otherwise, he said.Transport and Technical Education Minister Shri G.S. Bali, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Tarun Kapoor were also present on the occasion amongst others.
