Virbhadra Singh lays foundation stone of Tandi sangam Ghat online

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today laid online foundation stone of the 'Tandi Sangam Ghat' to be constructed on the confluence of river Chandra and Bhaga at Tandi in Lahaul valley.The Ghat would be constructed with an outlay of Rs 22 crore. The Chief Minister announced for releasing a sum of Rs 50 lakh for the same through tourism department.The Tandi Sangam Ghat would be of great importance from religious and tourism point of view. The place is of utmost importance for Hindus as the last rites could be performed here like in Haridwar and Benaras.The Chief Minister during his visit to the Lahaul valley had directed to prepare architectural design of the Ghat.MLA from Lahul-Spiti Shri Ravi Thakur, who was also present on the occasion, said that architectural design had been prepared. He said that the Ghat would serve as a common platform for performing rituals and last rites for the people of the valley and in times to come, it would be developed in a big way.
