Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while presiding over the prize distribution function of Maharishi Valmiki Sampooran Swachta Mission at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Auditorium, Hamirpur today said that Himachal Pradesh was poised to achieve 100 percent target of total cleanliness by 2019.He said that Himachal Pradesh has launched a comprehensive strategy to tackle the sanitation challenge based on motivating rural communities to end the traditional practice of open defecation and adopt safe sanitation. In pursuance of this strategy, the State Government had introduced the Maharishi Valmiki Sampoorn Swachata Puruskar (MVSSP) to select the cleanest Gram Panchayat at block, district, division and state levels based on an annual competition.The Chief Minister distributed the prizes which included a citation and cash award of 10 lakh to panchayats which have better Child Sex Ratio(CSR) and have adopted cleanliness as their way of living. The prizes were also distributed under Pashudhan Yojna, Balika Gaurav Puraskar, for better health indicators, prizes under MNREGA, for better management of Solid and liquid waste management etc.
The panchayats awarded were Jia of district Kullu, Barana of Nagrota Bagwaan, Sari of Lambagaon, Hanoh of Bhoranj of Hamirpur district, Kyarwa of Sulah of Kangra, Kishanpura of Nalagarh, Kurik of Kaza, Top-ki-Ber of Solan district, Jol of Bangana, Sugnam of Kaza, Thaili-Chakti of Nankhari of Shimla district, Amroh of Bhoranj, Purbani of Kinnaur district, Mahasu of Jubbal Kotkhai and Prei in Rait of Kangra district, As many as 129 prizes were distributed under Pashudhan Yojna for managing stray cattle, 98 under Maharishi Balika Gaurav, 12 prizes under MNREGA and 15 under Balika Gaurav Puraskar Yojna. The Chief Minister congratulated the winners and exhorted other panchayats to follow those who were awarded today. He launched DARPAN, DM-Dashboard application for monitoring and analysis of various ongoing projects and schemes in Hamirpur district. Developed as a product by National Informatics Centre, DARPAN is a tool to transform complex Government data into visuals. It is highly configurable service where projects can be integrated using web services.
At present 19 services have been integrated with this dashboard.He said that Panchayats Raj institutions play an important role in governance and were important segment of the democratic set up of the country. Principal Secretary RD and Panchayats Raj Shri Onkar Sharma welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister and other dignitaries. He detailed about the motive behind the awards and detailed about the measures taken by the Government to make Himachal green and clean.Rural Development Minister Shri Anil Sharma, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri Inder Dutt Lakhan Pal, Ex-MLA Shri Kuldeep Pathania, Vice-Chairman State Disaster Management Board Shri Rajender Rana, Chairman, Kangra Central Co-operative Bank Shri Jagdish Sapheiya, Chairman Ex-servicemen Corporation Col. BC Lagwal, Chairman APMC Shri Prem Kaushal were also present on the occasion amongst panchayat representatives from all over the state .
