In a late night accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway two persons according to police died when a truck and a trawler collided with each other. The accident was reported from Sherbibi Nachalana area of Banihal. A police official said that the collision took place between a truck (JK03E 8811) and trawler (JK02BH 2877). In this accident both the owner of the truck and the driver identified as Abdul Gani Dar son of Ghulam Muhammad resident of Kreeri Nopora Dooru and Mudassir Ahmed Rather of Watihal Qazigund died on spot.The official said that a case vide FIR number 24/2017 has been registered in Police Station. He said that accused driver had fled from the spot but was arrested on Thursday afternoon. He identified the arrested driver as Bali Ram of Chatta Jammu. “The questioning of the driver is going on to ascertain the circumstances of the accident,” police official said.
Meanwhile, people observed a complete shutdown in Banihal and its adjacent areas demanding immediate arrest of the trawler driver. Reports said that hundreds of people hit to roads and blocked Dooru-Anantnag road. They claimed that the duo were not killed in the road accident but were murdered by the driver of the trawler.What information we gathered from the eyewitness makes it clear that truck owner Mudasir and driver Ghulam Nabi were crushed to death intentionally by the trawler driver. My nephew who had bought this truck after completing his MBA had an argument with the trawler driver who in a fit of rage crushed him and the driver to death. It was not an accident but murder,” Ghulam Nabi Rather, uncle of slain truck owner told CNS.
