65th All India Police Hockey Championship-2016 is being held at Jammu from December 10. The championship is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police and would last for seven days. It would conclude on December 16, 2016.Arrangements for the national championship were discussed at a senior police officers meeting held at Armed Police Headquarters here today. The meeting was chaired by the Additional Director General of Police Armed (ADGP), L Mohanti.Addressing the meeting, Mohanti disclosed that more than 25 national teams representing different States and Central Police Organizations of the country would be participating in the seven days long championship. The championship would be played at different venues in Jammu city.He said that JKP is participating in various national sports events in different disciplines including All India Police Football Championship, All India Police Wrestling Cluster and National Athletic Meet.All these national championships are being held under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board, he added. The ADGP said that sports activities have helped to promote the talent of our personnel within the department, besides providing opportunity to the sports lovers particularly the youth of the State to witness national level competitions in the State.He said that our sports persons have excelled bringing laurels for the Organization and the State. 

Besides national level championships, the Organization has been organizing a series of sports activities in different parts of the State within and outside the department to promote sports culture.To ensure arrangements for the prestigious championship, various committees were constituted and venues for the championship discussed. Boarding and lodging for the guest teams were discussed in the meeting and it was decided that convenient accommodation and other facilities would be provided to the visiting teams and the management.The ADGP stressed upon the officers to work in close coordination and utilize previous experiences for making the championship a success. He also emphasised to identify the most talented players of the department in the discipline who could represent the Organization in the national level championship. He said that the JKP team should be put on continuous practice enabling them to compete in the championship and fetch glory to the department.He said that the event should be given proper publicity inviting the sports lovers to witness the competitions between national level teams.Among others, the meeting was also attended by IsGP, M. Sulaiman Salaria, Yoginder Koul, Danish Rana and Shafakat Watali, DIsGP, Alok Kumar and Ashkoor Wani, AIG (PHQ), Kulbir Singh, SSsP, Sunil Kumar, Ashok Sharma, Mohan Lal, Yasin Kichloo, AK Angral, Anita Sharma, Tasbasum Parveen, Rashmi Wazir, Sham Sunder, Commandants of Armed/IRP Bns, Medical Supdt, Wasiq Rasool, Dy.SsP, Junaid Wali, Zahoor Ahmed and other police officers.
