The matches on the eighth day of Dr BR Ambedkar 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016, a total of three matches were held in the Sports Stadium, Adampur in district Jalandhar today. In today's matches, USA and Australia in men section while New Zealand in women section registered victories over their opponents.A large number of spectators had gathered at Adampur, which had hosted the World Cup Kabaddi matches for the first time. In matches of men section, USA defeated Tanzania by 55-36 and Australia defeated Argentina by 58-43. While in women section, New Zealand defeated Sierra Leone by 47-17.Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal was the chief guest for today’s matches. Adampur MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu, MLA's Mr Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Mr Gurpatrap Singh Wadala, Mrs Mohinder Kaur Josh, SGPC member Ranjit Singh Kahlon, Paramjit Singh Raipur, Director Sports Punjab Mr Rahul Gupta, DC Mr KK Yadav, Assistant Director Sports Department Kartar Singh Sehamby, District Sports Officer Mr Amrik Singh, were also present on the occasion.
Punjabi singers Sunanda Sharma and Kulwinder Billa enthralled the audience with their performance.
Match 1: Men Section: USA Defeat Tanzania By 55-36:
In first match of the day, USA defeated Tanzania by 55-36. For USA, raiders Harnek Dulla and Jatinderpal scored 10 points each, while stoppers Harjinder secured 5 points and Navpreet Johal secured 4 points for their team. Similarly, for Tanzania, raiders Joseph, Benzamin and Gasper scored 10, 8 and 8 points respectively while stoppers Gervas and Geophrey secured one point each.
Match 2: Men Section: Australia Defeat Argentina By 58-43:
In second match of the day, Australia defeated Argentina by 58-43. For Australia, raiders Rajkumar and Boota scored 19 and 13 points respectively, while stoppers Jasvir and Sukhdeep secured 5 points each. For Argentina, raiders Alexjandro, Bruno and Facunde secured 13, 9 and 7 points respectively. Stoppers Cpauio and Federico secured 2 points each.
Match 3: Women Section: New Zealand Defeat Sierra Leone By 47-17 :
In the last and final match of the day, New Zealand defeated Sierra Leone by 47-17. For New Zealand, raiders Leilani and Elizabeth scored 9 and 7 points respectively while stoppers Tayla Ford and Adelina Tito secured 7 and 3 points respectively. For Sierra Leone, raiders Sangari scored 5 and Soloman Dulen scored 4 points and stopper Koroma Istata secured 3 points.
