Directions issued for safety of EVMs

Manisha Nanda, Principal Secretary, Home informed here today that in order to ensure the safety of Electronics Voting Machines at the Storage Places from Electrical Point of View, Home Department has issued instructions to all the Distt. Election Officers (D.C.) and Returning Officers that the safety of the premises should be got verified by the Government Electricians. She said that on the directions of the Department, the Chief Fire Officer had also been issued instructions to the concerned Station Fire Officers/Sub Fire officers to inspect the storage premises and surrounding areas and recommend suggestions if any to concerned Returning Officers. Besides, the concerned Fire Station In-charge has also been directed to install minimum two number of Co2 fire extinguishers at each storage points and it may also be increased depending upon the size of the premises and also to train the Paramilitary staff guarding the premises  regarding operation of the Fire Extinguishers. The nearest Fire Station staff should visit the storage places at the regular intervals especially during the night hours, she said.
