Ghulam Hassan Mir defends ‘surgical strikes’

Defending alleged ‘surgical strikes’ from India on Pakistan, Democratic Party (Nationalist) leader and former Minister Ghulam Hasan Mir Thursday said that such strikes were the need of the hour as India believes that they have immensely suffered due to the militant strikes sent by Pakistan to its territory.Pertinently, India claimed that it caused "significant casualties" on militants and those who support them during surgical strikes across the India-Pakistan border late on Wednesday, a claim refuted by Pakistan which said that “the notion of surgical strike linked to alleged terrorists bases is an illusion being deliberately generated by India to create false effects.”Mir told news agency CNS that India believes that militants across border are nuisance and due to this factor surgical strikes were needed. “India has suffered heavily and to target militant camps was necessary,” he said but added that these operations should have a limited character and should not change into war on full scale.Mir added that India has suffered due to militant attacks on its territory and Uri was the latest that killed 18 Indian soldiers.
