Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Punjab was set to achieve an infrastructure revolution with work starting on four laning of major highways with the active support of the NDA government. Disclosing this here today on the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of 4 and 6 laning of Chandigarh-Kharar section of NH-21 and 95, 4 laning of Kharar-Kurali section of NH-21 and 4 laning of Phagwara-Rupnagar section of NH-344A along with Union Road, Shipping and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Deputy CM said it was for the first time in the history of the State that so many infrastructure projects had been taken up for execution. He said be it three new thermal plants, two international airports or road infrastructure worth Rs 22,000 crore, the SAD-BJP government had delivered on all its promises. He said the SAD-BJP government had genuinely taken the State forward by going in for visible development unlike the Congress which could not showcase even one its achievements during its earlier tenure of 2002-07. Lambasting AAP, Mr Sukhbir Badal said this party had indulged in acts of sacrilege, its leaders were embroiled in corruption and sex scandals. He said AAP leader was nowadays talking about farmer issues even though he could not differentiate between kharif and rabi crops and was ignorant about all aspects of Agriculture which was the backbone of Punjab’s economy.The Deputy Chief Minister lauded the efforts of NDA government at the center in extending all possible help to go several notches up on developmental scale and thanked Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving road projects worth Rs. 33000 crore out of which work is continuing on war footing regarding roads worth Rs. 20000 crore..
He also said with the governments of alliance partners at both center and the state, Punjab has been scripting new success stories with every passing moment.Mr Nitin Gadkari while speaking on the occasion said the centre had accorded approval to declare as National Highways (NH) the roads namely Banga-Garhshankar-Sri Anandpur Sahib-Naina Devi, Patiala-Goohla Cheeka-Kaithal,Morinda-Bassi Pathana-Sirhind up to Patiala bypass, Kharar-Banur –Tepla , Tarntaran-Goindwal-Kapurthala, Nawanshahr-Rahon-Machhiwara-Samrala-Malerkotla, Gurdaspur-Mukerian-Talwara-Mubarakpur, Bathinda-Badal-Kaloi. He also approved 2 flyovers on river Sutlej at a cost of Rs. 250 crore.The Union Minister also gave approval to an expressway from Delhi-Amritsar-Katra at a cost of Rs. 60000 crore and direct road from Jalandhar-Moga-Bathinda uptill Ajmer and further on to Mumbai so as to reduce the distance thereby facilitating the trade and carrying of commercial goods. Describing the Chief Minister, Punjab, S.
