Punjab has become the first state of country wherein initiative has been taken to introduce smart driving by opening automated driving test track at 22 district headquarters and 10 sub divisions. The Union Minister for Food Processing Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal said this while inaugurating the automated driving test track of Mansa at village Malakpur Khiala, constructed at cost of Rs 1.75 cr in 1.25 acres of land. She said that with the opening of this facility, all procedures of making a driving licence will be brought under one roof and the licence will be issued on spot.
The Union Minister Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that this project has been introduced to help 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers drivers get licence easily efficiently and in a transparent manner. She said that owing to strict standards of the test, those found unfit will not be able to get licences and the road accidents will also be controlled. She said that these tracks will also mitigate corruption. She added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal and following the vision of Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Badal the plan to set up automated driving test track was laid so that the procedure is simplified and corruption is rooted out.
She added that after the conducting of driving test, the licence will be issued in next 30 minutes. She added that this center was laced with CCTV cameras, motion sensors and webcasting facilities. Besides this a circular track and an inclined track has been prepared to test driving of 2 wheeler and 4 wheeler divers.Area MLA Mr Prem Mittal, DC Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, SSP Mr Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, Chairman District Planning Commetee Mr. Prem Arora and others were also present.
