Admitting that public sector enterprises (PSEs) like BHEL were under pressure due to competition from China, union Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Anant Geete on Tuesday assured that they will be empowered for decision-making."There is pressure on BHEL, there is pressure on steel companies. The public sector can compete with China when we empower their managements to take decisions for growth," Geete said at an industry conclave here.Unveiling the international meet on technology and demand at the Elecrama event at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), the minister said the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) would submit an action plan to the government on integrating renewable energy with main grid and how to minimise distribution losses.
Elecrama vice chairman Vijay Karia said the meet is focused in bringing value to the country as a whole and give voice to various states on technology and demand issues as there is no single platform."When we talk about technology and demand automatically all the issues that we are facing today, in terms of losses and its reach to the end customer gets addressed in a large way," he said. The conclave is to help utilities and power sector professionals to understand the latest technologies and empower themselves to meet tomorrow's challenges.Founded in 1948, IEEMA is an industry association with more than 800 members straddling the entire value chain of power generation, transmission and distribution.
