We should keep ourselves prepared all the time to defeat any kind of internal & external threats. This was stated by Education Minister Punjab Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema while delivering greeting message after unfurling the National Flag at Govt. College Mohali. Before this he saluted the march-past by Punjab Police, NCC Scouts and Guides and received the Guard of Honor lead by Parade Commander Sh. Varun Sharma IPS.Education Minister Punjab greeted the public on 67th republic day and also paid homage to the brave police officers who fought against the terrorist attack in Pathankot and also paid tribute to brave army officers who lost their lives while serving the nation to maintain its unity & integrity. He said that our country got freedom on 15 August 1947 after a long struggle and lot of sacrifices but on 26 January 1950, after implementation of its constitution, our country became a republic nation completely and all citizens got equal rights. He further said that a nation could not grow without marinating peace and justice. He said that Punjab is very peaceful state in the country for which residents of Punjab are worth appreciating and Punjab has always fought against anti social elements. During this while summarizing about the outstanding achievements of the present SAD+BJP Govt., he said that with endless efforts of Punjab Govt. in the field of Agriculture, Power Generation, Rural & Urban Development, health, Civil services etc., the Punjab State has become Power surplus state of the country which has given a movement to the industrial growth in the state.
Education Minister Punjab said that present govt. has initiated very effective steps to elevate the level of education in the state. Now Punjab is among one of the leading state in the field of education. He said that Present Govt. has recruited 70 thousand teachers and new recruitment of 14000 teachers will also be conducted in the next 2 months. He said that under Maai Bhago scheme free cycles worth Rs. 114 crore has been distributed to 4 lacs 16 thousand students studying in class 9th to 12th, besides this free education to girls is being provided till class 12th. Vocational education is also being provided in 400 schools on the state. Besides these 7 meritorious schools has also been established in state wherein free coaching along with accommodation is being provided to students of class 10th obtaining 80 % marks. Besides above, under Dr. Hargobind Khurana Scholarship Scheme Rs. 2500/- per month scholarship is being provided to students obtaining 80% Marks in class 10th. As such, Rs. 60 thousand is being distributed as scholarship.During this he said that Mohali is being developed as a IT Hub and Medi-city is being established at here and after Mohali International Airport being operational, Mohali has made a unique identity in the world.During this, Dr. Cheema honored the martyrs and freedom fighters. He also distributed the Tri-Cycles and sewing machines to the needy persons. Education Minister also gave honor and recognition to 25 personalities for their tremendous achievements in various fields.
During this, he announced the Rs. 5 Lac as a prize for the students who presented a cultural program. He also declared holiday on 27th January for all Govt. and Private schools of the district. During this besides cultural programs, a special showcase was prepared describing the achievements of various departments in their respective fields.During this, Member Lok Sabha Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Member Parliament Canada S.
