The Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo convened an officers meeting here today to take stock of essentials and other basic facilities available for Valleyites including power, water, health care and road connectivity.The Minister urged the PDD authorities to adhere to curtailment schedule strictly without any discrimination so the people’s problems are mitigated.Ms. Sakina while taking stock of essentials asked the CA&PD officers to ensure adequate supply of essential to the Valley consumers including rice, sugar, atta, kerosene oil, cooking gas. She was informed that 20,000 metric tons of rice, 14,000 metric tons of sugar, 6000 litres of kerosene oil and 2,50,000 cooking gas cylinders are available in CA&PD godowns and Oil Companies operational in Valley.

The Minister directed the health authorities to ensure heating arrangements in all health institutions operational in the Valley. She asked the officers to ensure regular inspected of heath institutions operational especially in rural areas.The R&B authorities were asked to ensure better road connectivity by way of carrying repairs of major and minor roads across the Valley.The Forest authorities were asked to ensure adequate supply of firewood to consumers and mosques in the Valley.Later, the Minister interacted with many public delegations who put forth their demands. The Minister assured them that their problems would be looked into and addressed on priority.The Chief Engineer R&B, Director School Education, Director CA&PD, officers of PHE, Rural Development and Joint Director Information Kashmir were present on the occasion.
