Addressing the press while inaugurating a 50 Bed maternity hospital worth Rs. 8 crore 70 lacs at Civil Hospital, phase 6 mohali, Health Minister Punjab Sh. Surjit Singh Jyani said that  this hospital is equipped with all modern facilities so that each modern health facilities could be ensured.Health Minister said that to ensure safe child birth and to facilitate institutional deliveries, maternity hospitals will be established in each district of the state. He said that Punjab Govt. is keen to serve the public to provide efficient health facilities. He further said that vacant posts of MBBS doctors will also be filled soon. He further said that 51 percent deliveries happen in hospitals. He said that Govt. is interested for 100% institutional deliveries. He said that at present death rate of new borns are 27 out of 1000 which is less as compared to other states; however it will be brought to 0. Besides this death rate of mother during delivery is 142 out of every 1lacs, which has also been targeted to reduce it to 0.

During this, Sh. Jyani said that besides registration facility some other facilities like dispensary, OPD, Sample Collection, Diagnostic room, Toilet facilities, Delivery Room, Delivery Operation Theatre, Labour Room, Doctor Room, Doctor Change Room, Nurse Station, Pre- Operative Room, Scrub, Recovery Room, Nursery Room, has been provided at ground floor and access to first floor has been provided through stairs as well as through ramp. Besides this the first floor is having 2 Operation Theatres, Child Care Ward, Laboratory, Feed Room, Office, Medicine Store, Conference Room, Nurse Station, Recovery, Step Down, Vaccination room, Waiting hall, Toilet Block, Ramps and stairs. Whereas at second floor 6 wards of 32 bed capacity, 10 special rooms, Nurse Station, Doctor Room, Store and Toilet Block has been provided. During this Health Minister visited the various wards constructed in the hospital.During this, Sr. Baljinder Singh Brar Chairman Punjab Health System Corporation Sh. Husan Lal, Secretary Health Department, Sh. Khushwant RaiGiga Vice Chairman Infotech, Sh. Sukhvinder singh Goldy District President BJP,  Circle President Mohan Singh, Councillor Ashok Jha, Arun Sharma, BJP leader Narinder Rana, Sh. Jasvir Singh Mehta, Sr. Amandeep Singh Abiana, Civil Surgeon Neelam Bhardwaj,  Distric tHealth Officer Dr. HS Oberoi, SMO Dr. Adesh Kang and other officers of health department along with reputed persons were present.
