उपराष्ट्रपति जगदीप धनखड़ ने आज जैसलमेर में BSF के सैनिक सम्मेलन को संबोधित करते हुए जवानों से कहा कि आपके बीच में आकर एक नई ऊर्जा का अहसास कर रहा हूंऔर ये पल मेरे लिए सदा यादगार रहेगा। अपने छात्र जीवन के याद करते हुए श्री धनखड़ ने कहा कि“मैं सैनिक स्कूल चित्तौड़गढ़ का छात्र रहा हूं।
कक्षा 5 में वर्दी पहनी थी- वर्दी की ताकत, वर्दी की अहमियत मुझे पता है। वर्दी आपको किस रूप में अचानक परिवर्तित कर देती है यह मैंने बचपन में देखा है।” उन्होंने सीमा सुरक्षा बल के जवानों की कर्तव्यनिष्ठा की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा कि “आपको देखकर मैं अभिभूत हूं!देश की प्रथम रक्षा पंक्ति- सीमा सुरक्षा बल उत्कृष्ट रूप से कर्तव्य निर्वहन कर रहा है। आपका कार्य अत्यंत प्रशंसनीय और वंदनीय है।”
ज्ञात रहे कि कल शाम उपराष्ट्रपति ने जैसलमेर में BSF की बावलियांवाला सीमा चौकी का दौरा किया था और वहां तैनात जवानों से मुलाकात की थी। इस अवसर पर उन्होंने 'तनोट विजय स्तंभ' पर अमर शहीदों को कृतज्ञ राष्ट्र की ओर से श्रद्धांजलि भी अर्पित की। कठिन परिस्थितियों में ड्यूटी कर रहे BSF के जवानों के पुरुषार्थ की प्रशंसा करते हुए श्री धनखड़ ने कहा कि ऐसी तपती धूप में कुछ मिनट भी खड़ा रहना मुश्किल है। चारोंतरफ का वातावरणचुनौतीपूर्ण है और सीमा पर आपको एकपलक झपकाने की भी फुर्सत नहीं है।
उन्होंने आगे कहा कि - हिमालय की ऊंची पहाड़ियाँ, थार का तपता हुआ रेगिस्तान, पूर्वोत्तर के घने जंगल, दल-दल से भरे रण-क्रीक में सीमा सुरक्षा बल के जवानों की जो मुस्तैदी है, वह बेमिसाल है। उपराष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि सीमा सुरक्षा बल के जवान हर पल आप अपने मोटो “जीवन पर्यन्त कर्तव्य” को चरितार्थ कर रहें हैं।
उनके परिवारजनों को त्याग को स्मरण करते हुए श्री धनखड़ ने कहा कि “मैं नमन करता हूं आज उन माताओं को जिन्होंने आप जैसे वीर सुपुत्र और वीरांगनाओं को जन्म दिया है और राष्ट्र की सेवा के लिए समर्पित किया है।”रक्षा बलों में महिलाओं की बढ़ती हुई भागीदारी का जिक्र करते हुए उपराष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि भारत का बदलती हुई तस्वीर कर्तव्य पथ पर Republic Day पर हमने देखी जहां हमारी बेटियों ने क्या कुछ नहीं दिखाया!यहां मुझे बड़ी प्रसन्नता हुई जब उनकी भागीदारी देखी।
राष्ट्र की रक्षा करते हुए अपनी जीवन बलिदान करने वाले अमर शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि देते हुए श्री धनखड़ ने कहा कि “मैं उन प्रहरियों को नमन करता हूं जो आज हमारी बीच नहीं हैं, जो मां भारती की रक्षा में अपना जीवन न्योछावर कर अमर हो गये।उन वीरों के परिवारजनों को भी विनयपूर्वक नमस्कार करता हूँ।”
रक्षा क्षेत्र में भारत की बढ़ती आत्मनिर्भरता का उल्लेख करते हुए उपराष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि एक ज़माना था जब कील तक बाहर से आती थी लेकिन अब हम रक्षा उपकरणों का निर्यात कर रहे हैं। विमानवाहक पोत विक्रांत देश में बना, फ्रिगेट देश में बने, तेजस बना, मिसाइलें बनी और यह मुमकिन इसलिए हुआ क्योंकि सीमाओं पर अमन-चैन आप कायम करते हो।
उन्होंने सीमा सुरक्षा बल के जवानों से कहि कि आप शांति के दूत हैं; आपकी वजह से भारत दुनिया में शांति का दूत है और यह गर्व का विषय है सीमा सुरक्षा बल विश्व का सबसे बड़ा सीमा रक्षक बल है। और मैं यहां से ऊर्जावान होकर जा रहा हूं, एक नई प्रेरणा लेकर जा रहा हूं।देश के विकास में BSF की अहम भूमिका को रेखांकित करते हुए उपराष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि आप यहां सीमा पर तैनात हैं।
इसी कारण भारतवासी एक सुरक्षित वातावरण में सो पाते हैं और यह आपके धैर्य और पराक्रम का ही परिणाम है कि प्रत्येक भारतीय निर्भय और निश्चिंत होकर देश के सर्वांगीण विकास के काम में निरंतर गतिशील हैं।देश के दुश्मनों द्वारा घुसपैठ, तस्करी आदि अपराधों के जरिये सीमावर्ती इलाकों में अस्थिरता लाने के प्रयासों को सीमा सुरक्षा बल द्वारा प्रभावी रूप से निष्फल करने की उपराष्ट्रपति ने प्रशंसा की।उन्होंने इन चुनौतियों से निपटने में आधुनिक तकनीक के प्रयोग का भी आह्वान किया।
इस अवसर पर BSF के महानिदेशक डॉ नितिन अग्रवाल, BSF की पश्चिमी कमांड के SDG श्री वाई बी खुरानिया, जैसलमेर BSF के उप महानिरीक्षक श्री विक्रम कुंवर व अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारीगण उपस्थित रहे।

Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar while addressing the BSF Sainik Sammelan in Jaisalmer today told the soldiers that I am feeling a new energy after coming among you and this moment will always be memorable for me.
Recalling his student life, Mr Dhankhar said, “ I have been a student of Sainik School Chittorgarh. I wore a uniform in class 5. I know the power and importance of uniform. I have seen in my childhood how a uniform suddenly transforms you. ”
Praising the dedication of the Border Security Force jawans, he said, “ I am overwhelmed to see you! The country's first line of defence - the Border Security Force is performing its duties excellently. Your work is highly praiseworthy and admirable. ”
It is worth mentioning that yesterday evening, the Vice President visited the BSF 's Bawalianwala border outpost in Jaisalmer and met the soldiers deployed there. On this occasion, he also paid tribute to the immortal martyrs on behalf of the grateful nation at the ' Tanot Vijay Stambh ' .
Praising the valour of the BSF jawans performing their duties in difficult conditions, Shri Dhankhar said that it is difficult to stand in such scorching heat for even a few minutes. The environment all around is challenging and you don't even have time to blink your eyes at the border.
He further said that the alertness of the BSF jawans in the high mountains of the Himalayas , the scorching desert of Thar , the dense forests of the Northeast , and the swampy Rann Creek is unmatched . The Vice President said that the soldiers of the Border Security Force are fulfilling their motto of “lifelong duty” every moment.
Remembering the sacrifices of their families, Mr Dhankhar said, “ Today I salute those mothers who have given birth to brave sons and brave women like you and dedicated them to the service of the nation. ”Referring to the increasing participation of women in the defence forces, the Vice President said that we saw the changing picture of India on the path of duty on Republic Day, where our daughters displayed their best! I was very happy to see their participation here.
Paying tribute to the immortal martyrs who sacrificed their lives while protecting the nation, Shri Dhankhar said, “ I salute those guards who are not amongst us today, who became immortal by sacrificing their lives in the protection of mother India. I also humbly salute the families of those brave soldiers. ”
Referring to India's growing self-reliance in the defence sector, the Vice President said that there was a time when even nails were imported but now we are exporting defence equipment. Aircraft carrier Vikrant was built in the country , frigates were built in the country , Tejas was built , missiles were made and this was possible because you maintain peace on the borders.
He told the BSF jawans that you are messengers of peace ; because of you India is a messenger of peace in the world and it is a matter of pride that the BSF is the largest border guarding force in the world. And I am leaving here energised , carrying a new inspiration.
Underlining the important role of BSF in the development of the country, the Vice President said that you are posted here at the border , due to which Indians are able to sleep in a safe environment and it is a result of your patience and valor that every Indian is fearlessly and confidently working towards the all-round development of the country.
The Vice President praised the Border Security Force for effectively thwarting attempts by enemies of the country to destabilize the border areas through crimes like infiltration , smuggling etc. He also called for the use of modern technology to deal with these challenges.
On this occasion, BSF Director General Dr. Nitin Agarwal , SDG of BSF Western Command Mr. Y B Khurania , Deputy Inspector General of Jaisalmer BSF Mr. Vikram Kunwar and other senior officers were present.
