Punjab government committed to provide jobs to youth in transparent manner - Harbhajan Singh

The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Punjab S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to provide jobs to the educated youth on the basis of merit in a transparent manner. The state government has provided jobs to 50 thousand youth without any bribe or recommendation during its first three years.

These views were expressed by Punjab Power and Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO. Addressing the media after attending the convocation ceremony of Desh Bhagat University as the chief guest, the cabinet minister said that the Punjab government has created positive environment by providing employment to large number of youth, which has reduced the tendency of the youth to go abroad.

He said that with the visionary thinking of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, now the youth can get employment while staying in Punjab. He also congratulated the youth who received their degrees. The power minister said that educational institutions not only shape the future of the youth but also play an important role in shaping the character of the society along with building the future of the society and the country.

S. Harbhajan Singh ETO said that 90 percent of the households have been benefited from the  600 units of free electricity being provided to the people of the state. He said that in the recent cabinet meeting held under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Punjab, while approval has been given to provide 6000 more jobs in various departments, it has also been approved to pay the long-pending dues of the employees with 14 thousand crores. 

This decision of the government will benefit three lakh employees and three lakh pensioners. On this occasion, Amloh constituency MLA Gurinder Singh Garry Barring said that the Punjab government is providing employment to the youth on a large scale, and the government is taking decisions with full seriousness for the welfare of various sections of the state so that the people do not face any kind of problem. He asked the students to play an active role for the betterment of the society. 

On this occasion, Desh Bhagat University conferred honorary doctorate degrees on Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice Chancellor of Central University, New Delhi; S. Jagjit Singh Dardi, Chairman of Chardi Kala Media House; Shri Jaspal Singh Bindra, Executive Chairman and Director of Centrum Capital Mills; Gian Singh Sandhu; and Retired Chief Administrator of PUDA Hardev Singh.

While Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Punjab Chancellor Dr. Rajiv Sood, Dr. Varinder Garg OSD PGIMER, and London Best Industrialist Rehana Bano were honored as the best leaders. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and MLA Gary Barring were also specially honored by the university.

Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, University Prof. Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur, CT. University Chancellor and CT. Group Chairman S. Charanjit Singh Channi, Saint Soldier Group of Institute Chairman Anil Chopra, University President Dr. Sandeep Singh, Vice President Harsh Sadavarti, and Dr. Varinder Singh,  and other dignitaries, were also present.
