The Patparganj Assembly seat in Delhi has attracted much political interest, especially during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. The election saw a tough contest between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Avadh Ojha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Ravinder Singh Negi, and Indian National Congress (INC)'s Anil Chaudhary. Well-known UPSC tutor Avadh Ojha entered politics replacing Manish Sisodia, a well-known constituent personality. During the counting of votes, the question arose whether Ojha would be able to save the seat for AAP in the face of tough competition from more experienced candidates despite his recent political debut.
The Contest in Patparganj
The Patparganj seat has a history of fierce contests and changing party trends. In the 2020 election, AAP's Manish Sisodia won the seat by defeating BJP's Ravinder Singh Negi by around 3,207 votes. Sisodia's move to the Jangpura constituency enabled Awadh Ojha to represent AAP this time. To take advantage of this change, the BJP fielded Ravinder Singh Negi for the second time to take advantage of his previous knowledge and connection with the area.
