Approves Calendar for International Year of Cooperatives 2025

Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik convened a meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee to approve the calendar of activities for the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, themed “Cooperatives Build a Better World.”

The Deputy Commissioner held discussions with committee members regarding the proposed calendar, which includes organizing Sehkar Mela, awareness camps, plantation drives, and debate competitions in schools and colleges in collaboration with different departments.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the implementation of decisions taken in Joint Working Committee meetings, the progress of the world’s largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector, and an overall evaluation of the cooperative department's functioning in the district.

A detailed presentation on the department's working was given by Deputy Registrar Cooperative Bhawani Attri. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of these initiatives in strengthening the cooperative movement and increasing public participation.

Deputy Commissioner further directed the concerned departments to expedite the formation of Multi-Purpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (M-PACS) in the dairy and fishery sectors to boost rural livelihoods.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Bhawani Attri, CAO, CHO, AD CAPD, DSHO,DDM NABARD and other concerned officers.
