Celebrating Republic Day at PEC : A Day of Patriotism and Talent

Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, celebrated the 76th Republic Day with unparalleled zeal and enthusiasm. The festivities began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director of PEC, followed by the heartfelt singing of the National Anthem. 

The ceremony was attended by students, faculty, staff members, and residents of the PEC campus, all united in patriotic fervor. A synchronized parade by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) set the tone for the event, filling the atmosphere with pride and a deep sense of national spirit. This year, the 75th Republic Day was celebrated under the theme ‘Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India – Heritage and Development), highlighting the rich legacy and progressive vision of the nation. 

The event was further honored by the presence of Registrar Col. R.M. Joshi, Dean of Student Affairs Dr. D.R. Prajapati, along with ADSA Dr. Puneet Chawla, Dr. Jyoti Kedia, and Dr. Mohit Tyagi. The entire celebration was meticulously organized under the guidance of the DSA Office. In his inspiring address, the esteemed Director of PEC, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, described the day as a moment of immense pride and reflection. 

He extended his warmest wishes to everyone present and underscored the importance of the Constitution as the cornerstone of India’s democracy. Paying homage to the visionary architects of the Constitution, he highlighted their pivotal role in shaping the nation. 

Prof. Bhatia urged students to adopt discipline, holistic development, and a sense of responsibility, encouraging them to actively contribute not only to the institution’s success but also to the country’s progress. The celebration further strengthened the spirit of social responsibility with a collective pledge for a drug-free society, fostering awareness and commitment among all attendees. 

Adding a technological edge to the event, PEC students showcased their ingenuity and technical expertise through an impressive display of innovative projects, reflecting the institute’s dedication to cutting-edge research and advancements. The day’s celebrations culminated in a vibrant cultural program that captivated the audience. Students from the Music Club delivered a soulful musical performance, complemented by melodious renditions by Mr. Brij Rawat and Dr. Akshi Deshwal. 

Energetic dance performances added vibrancy to the event, while heartfelt poetry recitals by the Hindi Editorial Board and Punjabi Editorial Board touched the audience’s hearts. The Dramatics Club presented an engaging skit, and the PEB Club’s spirited Bhangra performance brought the event to a high-energy close.

The celebration concluded on a note of inspiration and joy, leaving every attendee with a renewed sense of pride and motivation to work towards the collective dream of national progress and institutional excellence.
