Sitanshu Kotak is a prominent figure in Indian cricket, recognized for his extensive contributions both as a player and a coach. Born on October 19, 1972, in Rajkot, India, he has recently been appointed as the batting coach for the Indian national cricket team as of January 16, 2025, following a review of the team's performance under head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Professional Record of Sitanshu Kotak

Kotak enjoyed a distinguished domestic cricket career, primarily representing Saurashtra from the 1992/93 season until his retirement in 2013. Over 130 first-class matches, he scored 8,061 runs at an average of 41.76, including 15 centuries and 55 half-centuries. 

In List A cricket, he played 89 matches, amassing 3,083 runs at an average of 42.23, with three centuries and 26 half-centuries. Despite his remarkable domestic achievements, Kotak never had the opportunity to represent India at the international level.

Coaching Career

After retiring from playing, Kotak transitioned into coaching and has been actively involved with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He served as the head coach of India 'A' and has been part of various age-group teams. 

His coaching experience includes:

- Head coach for the T20 series against Ireland in 2023.

- Significant roles within the NCA under VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid.

His appointment as batting coach comes at a crucial time for the Indian team, which has faced challenges in recent Test matches. Kotak's experience and familiarity with the domestic circuit position him as a valuable asset to enhance India's batting strategy ahead of upcoming series against England and the Champions Trophy.
