Rao Narbir Singh inaugurates memorial of first MLA of Ahirwal region Babu Mohar Singh

Haryana's Forest and Environment Minister Sh. Rao Narbir Singh said Babu Mohar Singh played an important role in promoting education in various districts of Haryana and was the father and pioneer of a revolution in education in the state. The Forest and Environment Minister said this today during the inauguration of the newly constructed memorial of the first MLA of Ahirwal region, Babu Mohar Singh, at Government Senior Secondary School in Kanwali village of Rewari district.
He said our youth should contribute to the development of the country by following the path shown by such a pioneer of educational revolution, sharp politician, unbiased social worker and visionary thinker. During this, the minister also planted saplings in the school. He said we all have to be serious about environment protection.
We have to stop the wastage of paper so that the cutting of trees is minimized. Instead of printed cards for weddings, people should be invited online. He said he himself followed this by sending an invite online for a wedding in his family. On this occasion, the minister also announced to give Rs 21 lakh for various works in the school.
It is worth mentioning that Babu Mohar Singh became MLA for the first time in 1942, second time in 1946 and MLC in 1954 in undivided Punjab. Apart from being the first MLA of Ahirwal, he was also the first graduate from Ahirwal region and graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. After studying law from Lahore University, he ignited the educational revolution in Ahirwal and opened about a dozen educational institutions in the region.
Due to lack of educational institutions nearby, women faced a lot of difficulty in getting education. In view of these circumstances, he made notable contribution in opening Brain High School, Rewari, Jubilee Ahir School, Rewari, Shri Krishna High School, Kanwali, Ahir College, Rewari, J.B.T. Centre, Rewari, Craft and Drawing Teacher Centre, Rewari, Dronacharya College, Gurugram and Shri Krishna High School, Dhana Khurd, Hansi.
