During a media interaction in Karnal, The Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal, emphasized the continuous efforts of both the union and state governments to improve the economic conditions of farmers. He said that both governments have consistently worked towards the welfare of farmers by introducing various schemes aimed at strengthening their financial position.
The Minister further said that if any issues arise concerning farmers, solutions can be found through dialogue and cooperation. He assured that the central government remains dedicated to addressing such concerns. In response to another query, the Minister shared that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign is yielding positive results in Haryana, with noticeable improvements in the declining sex ratio.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the general public to tackle social evils like female foeticide. He stressed that social and religious organizations must take the lead in raising awareness and bringing about a change in societal attitudes.
On the topic of upcoming local body elections, Union Minister Mr. Manohar Lal responded confidently, saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) takes all elections, big or small, with utmost seriousness. He assured that the party is fully prepared for the elections, which are expected to be concluded by the end of March, following the Delhi elections.
He further added that in the ongoing Delhi elections, the BJP is in a favorable position and progressing towards forming a government. As the elections progress, the public mood will become clearer, he remarked. The Union Minister Mr. Manohar Lal also inaugurated three projects under the Smart City Karnal initiative, which collectively cost approximately Rs 59 crore.
Among the key projects was the inauguration of an Indoor Sports Complex, which was built at a cost of about Rs 44 crore. This complex features the first-ever international Olympic standard swimming pool in Haryana. The Minister said that this pool would benefit athletes not only from Haryana but from across the country.
He stressed the importance of providing modern facilities to athletes in various sports, especially in disciplines like wrestling, kabaddi, and swimming, which are particularly popular among Haryana’s youth. He said that while many village youths learn swimming informally in village ponds, it is essential to provide state-of-the-art sports facilities for their development in the changing times.
The swimming pool at the Karnal Indoor Sports Complex will serve as a landmark for swimmers and athletes, offering them an opportunity to train in world-class conditions. Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker and MLA from Gharaunda, Mr. Harvinder Kalyan, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
