Sakshi Sawhney Launches Vehicles to Deliver High-Protein Food to TB Patients

In a significant move to combat tuberculosis, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sawhney launched vehicles aimed at providing high-protein food to TB patients door-to-door. This initiative is part of the district administration's efforts to make Amritsar TB-free. Mrs. Sawhney emphasized that TB treatment goes beyond medication, highlighting the importance of nutritional food for patients. 

The administration has decided to provide free nutritional food to every TB patient for six months. Currently, there are approximately 5,000 TB patients in the district, with 1,700 patients already adopted by the district administration. She insured that Every TB patient will receive free nutritional food for six months.

She stated that 1,700 patients have been adopted by the district administration, with Red Cross and Dera Beas agreeing to adopt the remaining patients. District Administration 100-day special campaign has been launched, with a survey of 60,000 people conducted and treatment started for patients showing TB symptoms.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Kirandeep Kaur stated that the Health Department is working tirelessly to make Amritsar TB-free by 2025. District TB Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar added that 11 TB units and 21 microscopy centers are functioning in the district, providing free tests and medicines to patients.
