Punjab Milkfed Chairman Narinder Singh Shergill said here today that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government has been working on infrastructural updates of existing Verka Outlets outside the ten major Verka Milk Plants of the state.
Interacting with the media, on the very first day of the New Year after participating in a religious function held at Verka Milk Plant Mohali, Chairman Shergill said that the Finance Minister Punjab, Harpal Singh Cheema has sought the proposals from the ten main plants for face-lifting the existing outlets to transform into modern ones to sell out the verka products.
He said that besides the upgrading of verka outlets, the Bhagwant Mann Government has also been focusing on the modernization and up-gradation of verka milk plants in the state. The Mohali Verka Plant has been getting an expansion for Rs 325 Crore to enhance its capacity, added Chairman Narinder Shergill.
Earlier, the Amritsar and Jalandhar plants have also undergone modernization and up-gradation at a cost of over 80 Crore each. Similarly, both the feed plants of Milkfed are also under infrastructural up-gradation.
He said that in the coming days, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is going to dedicate a 160-crore project completed by Verka. He said that Milkfed has been working tirelessly to serve milk producers with a better price for their produce.
Besides, to hire the staff at Milk Plants, the existing infrastructure of salary is being reversed to the earlier one to secure their jobs. He was accompanied by MD Milkfed Rahul Gupta.
