Varun Dhawan's latest movie released all across the world, Baby John is an action thriller with a high sequence of multiple series of action and thrilling events. It tries to entertain but fails in several departments. The film is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Theri released in 2016 starring Thalapathy Vijay. Kalees is the director of this film, and it has been produced by Atlee.

But will it be able to do justice to the Tamil version?

Baby John Story and Cast Performance

The film Baby John leads by Varun Dhawan from being  the character of an ex-cop in hiding into a mad situation. Too much on the complexity side, which is also a tad bit derivative and less to tell you to remain engrossed.

It has tried to be "mass-hero" like for Shah Rukh Khan who aced it so wonderfully well in Jawan this year; in Varun's Dhawan hands, it looks low in energy for the kind of character this part required.

RajPal Yadav & Jackie Shroff Impressing Acting In The Baby John

The movie also includes Jackie Shroff & Rajpal Yadav. While Rajpal Yadav is seen as a police constable & Jackie Shroff in a negative character with impressive body language and punch lines. Where Rajpal Yadav is seen in a supportive role with Varun Dhavan, speaking some of the best lines.

His dialogue about "comedy being serious business" was ironically one of the only moments that really got a genuine laugh in the theatre. However, these brief moments of humor can't overshadow the film's over-the-top nature and lack of depth.

Baby John Ultimate Action and It’s Fantastic Direction

The action sequences, which form a vital part of any masala movie, are long and exhausting. With all the stylish visuals and attempts at mass appeal, the film cannot manage to capture the rhythm and essence of the original. Though Atlee's direction comes out in certain moments, Baby John never reaches the heights of Pushpa 2 or Jawan.

Our Opinion on Baby John Movie

Baby John may work for fans of masala films looking for loud action and drama, but it struggles to provide the emotional weight or compelling narrative seen in similar films. If you’re expecting a thrilling experience, this one may leave you disappointed. Baby John feels more like a missed opportunity than a blockbuster hit.

Our Rating 3 out 5
