Following this public uproar, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police filed a complaint under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 against seven people for assaulting and subsequently blackmailing Ayaan. According to Ayaan’s lawsuit, the main accused Imran and his accomplices abducted Ayaan at gunpoint in 2023, then recorded the attack and used the video to blackmail Dolphin Ayaan. This is the first time Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has publicly acknowledged such a complaint under PECA.
