Youth Festival started with a bang in Doaba Group
500 student artists from 65 colleges participated

Punjabi University Patiala Zonal Youth Festival (Ropar Fatehgarh Sahib Zone) 2024 commenced from 28th October, 2024 organised by Doaba College of Education at Doaba Group of Colleges campus-I, Kharar. Nearly 65 colleges of this zone under Punjabi University Patiala participated in this ‘Fest’.
Zonal Youth Festival provided platform to empower young people and recognised their potential as agents of change. The main objective of this Zonal Youth Festival was to provide our young generation particularly students an opportunity to be familiarized with the glorious cultural heritage of Punjab and also rooted to the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sukhjinder Singh, Principal of Doaba College of Education on inauguration day and formally welcome to worthy Chief Guest ADGP Punjab Police Dr. Naresh Kumar Arora, Director Youth Welfare Punjabi University Patiala, Professor Varinder Kaushik and their staff, Principals of various participant Colleges, their staff, cultural coordinators, participant students and other guests.
He added in his speech that this type of activity will enhance youths’ personality and will be useful for youth in general.The first day of the event was inaugurated with the lamp lightening ceremony by the Chief Guest ADGP Punjab police Dr. Naresh Kumar Arora and other dignitaries.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were Chairman of DGC Mr. M.S. Batth, President of DGC Dr. H.S. Batth, Managing Vice Chairman of DGC Mr. S.S.S. Sangha, Executive Vice Chairman of DGC Mr. Manjit Singh, all the Director- Principals of DGC and participants of various colleges and other guests.
On this occasion Chief Guest of the function, ADGP Punjab Police Dr. Naresh Kumar Arora, also delivered a speech. “The youth should perform diverse activities with hard work and facilities should be provided to them”. According to him, there are various challenges ahead and better planning will help us to overcome those.
With these words Shri ADGP Sir wished the students good luck and also encouraged them to participate whole heartedly in this ‘Fest’. Executive Vice Chairman of DGC Mr. Manjit Singh also gave a formal welcome speech and encouraged all the participants.
On 28th October,2024, approximately 500 student-artists participated from 65 colleges. On the very first day 17 competitive events of Lokgeet, Folk Orchestra, Bhangra, Group shabad, Classical vocal, Geet ghazal, Group indian song, General Quiz, Clay modeling, Rangoli, On the spot painting,Photography, Cartooning, Collage making, Poster making, Installation, Mehandi were organised.
In the prize distribution session, the Chief Guest ADGP Pujab Police Dr. Naresh Kumar Arora, distributed the prizes among the winners and runner ups of competitions in their respective fields. Bhangra was the most attractive event of the first day.
