Code Of Conduct Imposed In District Barnala, Punamdeep Kaur

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has declared bypoll of Barnala assembly constituency (103) and with this the model code of conduct has been imposed across the district. The District Election officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mrs Punamdeep Kaur stated this while addressing media persons today with SSP Barnala Mr Sandeep Malik.

She said that as per the schedule issued by Election Commission of India (ECI) notification for election shall be issued on Oct 18. The last date of filing nominations is Oct 25, nominations shall be scrutinized on Oct 28 and the same can be withdrawn by Oct 30. The voting for Barnala will be held on Nov 13 and counting will be conducted on Nov 23. The code of conduct shall be applicable till Nov 25.

She added that as per data available till May 14, there are total 180724 voters in the district, which include 85146 women voters, 95578 male voters and 4 transgenders. These also include total 636 service voters including 651 men and 15 women. There are 212 polling stations and 84 polling locations in the Barnala assembly constituency.

Giving details about the Divyang voters she added that there are 1415 people with disability (PwD) voters. These include 894 males and 521 females. There are 3 NRI voters in district (two males and one female).

District Election Officer added that there 3484 first time voters in the age group of 18-19 years. These include 2194 males and 1290 female voters. Besides this, there are 1300 voters that are above the age of 85 years. These include 627 males and 673 female voters.

SSP Barnala Mr Sandeep Malik added that all security arrangements were on place for conducting smooth and transparent election procedure in the district.
