The fourth-generation Carnival, which marks Kia India's return to the Indian market, is officially on sale at ₹63.90 lakh ex-showroom. Compared to the previous generation, whose top variant was priced at ₹35.50 lakh, this premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) is now available in a single limousine model that can seat seven people. This represents a big increase in price. With 2,796 reservations confirmed, the Carnival is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the highly competitive MPV market.

Design and Exterior Changes

The 2024 Kia Carnival has received an attractive facelift that ditches the classic van-like shape for an SUV-inspired look. An aggressive and authoritative presence to the car on the road is given by a massive front grille flanked by L-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) on either side and vertically stacked LED headlights. New 18-inch alloy wheels, skid plates with contrasting colors, and integrated LED tail lamps are some more exterior elements that enhance the aggressive attitude of the Carnival.

Interior and Features

The Carnival is plush and modern on the inside. The interior features a dual-tone finish and is made entirely of premium materials. The interior features two 12.3-inch screens; one is a digital driver display and the other is a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also features a 12-speaker Bose sound system and an 11-inch head-up display (HUD) that enhances the driving experience.

The Carnival prioritises comfort with vented and powered front seats. With sunshades and roof-mounted AC vents for added privacy, the second-row seats offer leg support, heat, and ventilation. The dual electric sunroof and a 64-colour ambient lighting system further enhance the cabin ambience.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2017 Kia Carnival is powered by a powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 440 Nm of peak torque and 197 horsepower. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that offers a sharp and effortless driving experience. Interestingly, the power is sent to the rear wheels, which improves the handling characteristics of the car.

Safety Features

Safety has been given great priority in the new Carnival, and it features a full range of state-of-the-art safety systems. This includes 8 airbags, hill-assist control, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). To provide peace of mind to drivers and passengers, the Carnival also features a 360-degree surround camera with blind-spot monitoring.
