Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia today asserted Delhi chief minister Atishi Marlena was disobeying Supreme Court orders by keeping an empty chair along with that of the chief minister’s in her office. In a statement here, Mr Bikram Majithia said “the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is making a mockery of the people’s mandate with such antics”.
Asking the Delhi chief minister to explain her actions, the SAD leader said due to the apex court’s orders Arvind Kejriwal could not resume duties as Chief Minister and that was why Atishi had been named chief minister in his place. Mr Majithia said it was shocking that after taking oath as Chief Minister and assuming charge Atishi kept an empty chair along with the chief minister’s chair. Asserting that the AAP had made a mockery of the post of chief minister, Mr Majithia said “Atishi Marlena should tell whether the empty chair is for ArvindKejriwal or someone else.
As per Constitution Kejriwal cannot sit on this chair”. Stating that the empty chair was a classic example of the remote control exercised by Kejriwal over the party, Mr Majithia said “Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann is also remote controlled by Kejriwal and even important decisions like reshuffle in the State cabinet and induction of new ministers are made by Kejriwal without even calling Mr Bhagwant Mann for any consultation”. Asserting that such acts only made a mockery of the constitution, Mr Majithia demanded the empty chair be removed from the chief minister’s office immediately.
