Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies, Subhash Sudha, hoisted the flag in Karnal. He honored freedom fighters and their families and paid tribute to the known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence. After hoisting the flag, Subhash Sudha announced to give Rs. 2.5 Lakh from his discretionary fund for those who gave cultural performances during the function.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Haryana had a special role in the freedom struggle.  He said that the brave sons of Haryana played a significant role in securing the country’s borders. He said that while the debt of the martyrs’ sacrifices can never be repaid, we can show respect by taking care of their families. 

The state government has increased the ex-gratia amount for Haryana soldiers and paramilitary forces who died in the war from Rs. 50 lakhs to Rs.1 crore. So far, 415 dependents of martyrs have been given jobs on compassionate grounds.He said that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and provided transparent governance. 

He said that to minimize human intervention in administration, IT has been extensively used. During this government's tenure, 72 sewage treatment plants have been started at a cost of Rs. 433.60 crore, and pipelines totaling 24,235.51 km in length have been laid at a cost of Rs. 4,159.47 crore. Haryana has become the first state in the country to purchase 24 crops at MSP, he added.
