DC Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav reviews implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, RGSA in the district

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav today chaired a pivotal meeting with key officers from the Department of Rural Development and other concerned departments to review the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme in the district. The meeting also discussed the proposals for innovative projects under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.

The meeting witnessed the participation of ACD Kishtwar, Phulail Singh all Block Development Officers (BDOs), ExEn Irrigation Department, Sunil Sharma and AEE PDD, Sudhir Sharma, along with representatives from agriculture and allied sectors. During the in-depth discussions, the DC stressed the importance of effective cleanliness measures and the proper functioning of plastic Waste segregation and management units across all blocks. 

He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards plastic waste in rural areas, underscoring the significance of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. The DC directed the BDOs to identify and designate model Village in each of the 13 blocks of the district, which are to be free of plastic waste. 

This initiative aims to set a benchmark for other villages/ panchayats to follow, fostering a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility. It was highlighted in the meeting that Block Kishtwar proudly operates all its waste collection vehicles efficiently, ensuring comprehensive waste collection and management across all panchayats, thereby bolstering efforts towards achieving a plastic-free environment.

Besides, during the meeting, some key issues affecting the effective implementation of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBM) were brought to the attention of the Chair. The Chair assured for immediate resolution.

In parallel, discussions were held regarding the execution of the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan in the district. The officers from the Irrigation Department, Power Development Department, and allied sectors were urged to expedite the process for projecting innovative under RGSA

These innovative projects should be envisioned to provide multifaceted benefits to farmers, promoting holistic development in agriculture and allied sectors. DC underscored the need for a concerted effort to ensure the timely and effective implementation of these initiatives.

The meeting concluded with an affirmation from all participants to diligently work towards the successful implementation of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan schemes and the development of innovative projects under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. The commitment to creating a cleaner, more sustainable environment and enhancing the infrastructure for agriculture in the district was reiterated.
